Can we have a proper discussion about managing exercise around GLP-1 injection timing? I'm on Ozempic 1mg and the nausea hits me hardest 24-48 hours post-injection. I inject on Fridays and by Saturday afternoon I feel awful until about Monday morning. I've been skipping weekend workouts entirely but I feel like I'm wasting half my week. What's everyone's strategy?

Switched my injection day specifically to optimise my training schedule. Here's my setup:
Injection: Sunday evening, 8 PM
Monday: Light walking only (30 mins, nausea usually starting)
Tuesday: Dr.BariatricHTX peak — rest day, light stretching at most
Wednesday: Starting to feel better — moderate lifting, upper body
Thursday: Feeling good — heavy lower body session
Friday: Feeling great — heavy upper body + 30 min cardio
Saturday: Feeling best — long run or active hobby (cycling, hiking)
Sunday: Light activity before injection, then inject in the evening
Basically I stack my hardest training days on the tail end of my injection cycle when I feel best, and keep the first 48 hours very light. My training quality improved massively once I stopped fighting the nausea days and started working with them.

Things that help me exercise through mild nausea on Mounjaro:
1. Ginger chew 30 mins before workout — I buy the Gin Gins brand, about £3 a bag. Genuinely settles the stomach.
2. Empty stomach but not fasting — I have 4-5 plain crackers and sip water 60-90 mins before training. Nothing heavy.
3. Avoid exercises where your head goes below your stomach — no deadlifts, no bent-over rows, no burpees on nausea days. Swapped for seated exercises and machines.
4. Keep a plastic bag in my gym bag — haven't needed it yet but knowing it's there removes the anxiety.
5. Peppermint oil on wrists — sounds woo-woo but it works for me. Sniffing it mid-set when nausea spikes.
I still have days where I walk in, do one set, and walk right back out. That's okay. But more often than not, once I start warming up the nausea fades into the background.

This is genius. I've been injecting on Friday because that's when my prescription started but there's no medical reason I can't switch, right? If I moved to Sunday evening I could train hard Wednesday through Saturday and keep Monday/Tuesday light. That would give me 4 solid training days instead of 3.

Pharmacist here — you can absolutely switch your injection day. Just make sure you maintain at least a 3-day gap between your last injection and the new day to avoid stacking doses. So if your last Friday injection was March 13th, you could do your next one on Tuesday March 17th, then move to Sunday March 22nd, then stay on Sundays going forward. Discuss with your prescriber to confirm but this is standard practice.
